This week, I interview Brad, a recent college graduate. In part 1 of this interview, Brad shares with us how he “tried on” a few different career options after graduation, only to discover that none of those options really “fit” him all that well.

Brad did not want to settle for simply a job that would pay the bills and keep him employed for 40 hours a week — he wanted a career that he is PASSIONATE about. Brad shares the process he went through to clarify his motivators and describes some of the challenges he faced.

You’ll find out what Brad’s “Jazz Factors” are and how he was able to explore career paths that truly excited him. You can actually apply this same information to your own situation.

Be sure to tune in next week for the conclusion of this interview and Brad’s BIG reveal about where his career path has currently taken him (hint, hint… he’s LOVING his work).

This episode is the first part of a two part interview with Ashley — a real, live college student who is actively plotting her career path. Ashley is one of my private consulting clients who graciously agreed to be on the podcast and share some highlights about her college career planning experience.

I can talk about the action oriented steps necessary to identify your ideal career path until I’m blue in the face, but HEARING someone describe the actual steps they took is worth its weight in gold! May of you listening to Ashley’s experience will easily identify with her. You will also be able to save yourself frustration, time, and money by acting on the same principles that she did.

In this first segment, Ashley describes where her college journey began, when she knew that she needed to adjust her plans, and how she clarified her passions and motivators.

Special thanks again to Ashley for being a guest on the podcast! If you would like to be a guest on a future episode, simply click here and follow the simple instructions.

In the short time that this podcast has been live, I have received a TON of e-mail from listeners who need some advice and direction about their career path. This week I respond to 4 of those emails:

  • Lisa is concerned about her chances of landing a job after completing her nursing degree.
  • Brian asks about the career outlook in the field of social work.
  • Richie wants clarification on the earning potential of medical school graduates (this one may surprise you).
  • And Sonia is looking for some tips on what to do about parents who are pressuring her into a career that she is not interested in.

Listen to this episode hear how I responded to each of these questions.

Do YOU have a question that you’d like to ask me? If so, simply e-mail your question to podcast@findyouridealcareer.com. Please keep your question brief and to the point, and I’ll do my best to answer it in an upcoming episode.

Enjoy!
